Fall Hazard Prompts NHTSA, CPSC and Dorel Juvenile Group to Announce
Recall of Infant Car Seat/Carriers
18 December 2009 (Washington, D.C.) – The U.S.Consumer Product Safety
Commission, in cooperation with Dorel Juvenile Group Inc., announced
a voluntary recall of ""Dorel Infant Car Seat/Carriers".
When used as an infant carrier, the child restraint handle
to the seat can loosen and come off, posing a fall hazard to infants. Dorel has
received 77 reports of the child restraint handle fully or partially coming off
the car seat/carrier resulting in at least three injuries to infants including bumps,
bruises and a head injury.
This recall involves Safety 1st, Cosco, Eddie Bauer and
Disney branded infant car seat/carriers with the following model
numbers and that were manufactured from January 6, 2008 through
April 6, 2009. The model number and manufacture date are located on
a label on the side of the car seat/carrier. They were sold with
Travel Systems. The stroller portion of the travel system is not
affected by this recall.

Children's Hooded Sweatshirts with Drawings
Recalled by Jason Evans Associates Due to Strangulation Hazard; Sold Exclusively
at Burlington Coat Factory
17 December 2009 (Washington, D.C.) – The U.S.Consumer Product Safety
Commission, in cooperation with Jason Evans Associates, LLC., announced
a voluntary recall of ""Boys Fleece & Flannel Zip Hooded
Sweatshirts with Drawstrings".
The hooded zip sweatshirts have a drawstring through the
hood which can pose a strangulation hazard to children.
Boys Fleece, Printed Fleece and Flannel Zip Hooded
Sweatshirts with labels in the neck seam with the brand name Bay
Trading and RN# 30842, in sizes 4 - 18.
Sold at Burlington Coat Factory from September 2006 through October
2009 for about $12 to $20.

CO2 Bicycle Tire Inflators Sold at Walmart Recalled by Todson Inc.
Due to Risk of Injury
17 December 2009 (Washington, D.C.) – The U.S.Consumer Product Safety
Commission, in cooperation with Todson Inc., announced a voluntary
recall of "CO2 Bicycle Tire Inflators".
The pressurized cartridge containing carbon dioxide (CO2) can
forcefully separate from the pump head, posing a risk of injury to the
consumer.

Child's Asphyxiation Death Prompts Recall of
Toy Dart Gun Play Set by OKK Trading
17 December 2009 (Washington, D.C.) – The U.S.Consumer Product Safety
Commission, in cooperation with OKK Trading Inc., announced a voluntary
recall of ""Action Team" Toy Dart Gun Set".
If a child places the soft, pliable plastic dart in his/her mouth, he/she
is likely to choke/aspirate the dart into her/her throat impairing the
child's ability to breathe. If the dart is not immediately removed, brain
damage or death can occur.
The "ACTION TEAM" play set has a toy gun with three soft rubber darts,
a S.W.A.T. watch, a baton, walkie-talkie, a whistle, and a badge with
a clip and an identification card. The soft, pliable orange plastic darts
have a nearly 2½ inch long shaft and an approximately ¾ inch diameter
suction cup. The toy gun is black with an orange nose and trigger and
red spring release mechanism.

Timberland Recalls Children's Boots Due to Violation
of Lead Paint Standard
16 December 2009 (Washington, D.C.) – The U.S.Consumer Product Safety
Commission, in cooperation with The Timberland Company, announced a voluntary
recall of "Classic Scuffproof Boots".
The logo stamped onto the children's boot's insoles contains excessive
levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.

Children's Plush Books Recalled by Simon & Schuster
Due to Choking Hazard
09 December 2009 (Washington, D.C.) – The U.S.Consumer Product Safety
Commission, in cooperation with Simon & Schuster Inc., announced a
voluntary recall of "Monday the Bullfrog Plush Books".
The plastic eye on the frog can detach, which may pose a choking hazard
to young children. Monday the Bullfrog is a plush puppet bullfrog with
a board book attached to the frog's mouth. It was sold in clear plastic
packaging, and the book is marked with ISBN numbers 10: 1416912312 and
13: 9781416912316 printed inside the mouth of the bullfrog.

Children's Hooded Sweatshirts with Drawstrings
Recalled by NTD Apparel Due to Strangulation Hazard
03 Decvember 2009 (Washington, D.C.) – The U.S.Consumer Product Safety
Commission, in cooperation with NTD Apparel, announced a voluntary recall
of ""Hello Kitty" Zip Up Hoodie Sweatshirts".
The sweatshirts have a drawstring through the hood which can pose a strangulation
hazard to children.
The "Hello Kitty" hoodie has an appliqué on the right chest and screenprint
on left chest and left sleeve. They were sold in black with silver lining
and in sizes 2T, 3T, 4, 5, 6 and 6X. NTD APPAREL, D1592H7273, RN#116180
is printed on the neck label and care label.
Sold at Macy's and Dillard's department stores nationwide from November
2008 through December 2008 for $36.

Recalled by Sunsations Due to Strangulation Hazard
03 December 2009 (Washington, D.C.) – The U.S.Consumer Product Safety
Commission, in cooperation with Sunsations Inc., announced a voluntary
recall of "Children's Hooded Sweatshirts with Drawstrings".
The recall involves children's hooded sweatshirt sizes 2T through 12 sold
in various solid colors. Style numbers included in this recall are: KD102,
KD124 and KFS102.

Children's Hooded Sweatshirts with Drawstrings
Recalled by Allura Imports Due to Strangulation Hazard
25 November 2009 (Washington, D.C.) – The U.S.Consumer Product Safety
Commission, in cooperation with Allura Imports Inc., announced a voluntary
recall of "Girl's Hooded Sweatshirts".
The sweatshirts have a drawstring through the hood, which can pose a strangulation
hazard to young children.
This recall involves girl's velour hooded sweatshirts with a zip front.
The sweatshirts were sold as a part of a 2-piece set. "Major Diva" is
printed on the front of the sweatshirts. The tag on the inside of the
sweatshirts reads, "2b REAL." The sweatshirts were sold in hot pink, light
pink, ivory and khaki, and in sizes 4, 5/6 and 6X.
Sold exclusively at: Burlington Coat Factory stores nationwide from October
2008 through July 2009 for about $11.

Team Work Trading Expands Recall of Children's
Metal Pendants Due to Risk of Lead Exposure
25 November 2009 (Washington, D.C.) – The U.S.Consumer Product Safety
Commission, in cooperation with Team Work Trading, announced a voluntary
recall of "Children's Metal Pendants".
The recalled children's pendants contain high levels of lead. Lead is
toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

Boy's Warm-up Sets Recalled by Fashion Options
Due to Strangulation Hazard
24 November 2009 (Washington, D.C.) – The U.S.Consumer Product Safety
Commission, in cooperation with KT Group Inc., announced a voluntary recall
of "Boy's Velour Warm-up Sets".
The sweatshirts have drawstrings through the hoods, posing a strangulation
hazard to children.
This recall involves boy's hooded sweatshirts style B639BC in colors black,
chocolate and charcoal. The velour sweatshirts were sold in sizes S, M,
L, or XL and have the name "Beverly Hills Polo Club" on the hangtag and
on the center back neck.
Sold at Burlington Coat Factory nationwide from September 2007 through
October 2009. The sweatshirts sold for about $15.

Salomon USA Recalls Ski Bindings Due to Unexpected
Release, Fall Hazard
19 November 2009 (Washington, D.C.) – The U.S.Consumer Product Safety
Commission, in cooperation with Salomon USA, announced a voluntary recall
of "Alpine Ski Bindings".
The toe component of the ski bindings could fail to fully secure the ski
boot to the ski binding, causing the binding to release unexpectedly.
This could cause the skier to lose control or fall and suffer injuries.

Grand World Recalls "Bobby Chupete" Pacifiers
Due to Choking Hazard
18 November 2009 (Washington, D.C.) – The U.S.Consumer Product Safety
Commission, in cooperation with Grand World Inc., announced a voluntary
recall of “Bobby Chupete” Pacifiers.
The pacifiers fail to meet federal safety standards. The pacifier mouth
guard is too small, posing a choking hazard to infants and toddlers. The
pacifiers have a ring-shaped handle and heart-shaped mouth guard with
two ventilation holes. The nipple is made of latex. “Bobby Chupete” and
a picture of an infant are printed on the pacifier’s packaging. The pacifier
was sold in aqua, red, white or yellow colors.

Gorilla Inc. Recalls EXO-Tech Safety Harness
Due to Fall Hazard
18 November 2009 (Washington, D.C.) – The U.S.Consumer Product Safety
Commission, in cooperation with Gorilla Inc., announced a voluntary recall
of “EXO-Tech Safety Harness".
The webbing of the waist belt on the safety harness is not routed through
the lineman’s loop located on the front of the harness near waist level.
Since the loops are not properly anchored to the harness webbing but are
attached only through stitching not intended to restrain a user during
a fall, they that can pull away from the harness when force is applied,
leaving the user unrestrained.
The name EXO-Tech is located on the right front shoulder strap and the
name Gorilla is located on the left front should strap both in white lettering.
Similar to a shirt tag, there is a white manufacturing label on the inside
of the back of the harness with the model number 45111 and manufacturing
dates, 4/22/2009 or 6/26/2009. These are the only harnesses recalled.

Children's Hooded Sweatshirts and Jackets Recalled
by Century 21 Promotions, Inc. Due to Strangulation Hazard
18 November 2009 (Washington, D.C.) – The U.S.Consumer Product Safety
Commission, in cooperation with Century 21 Promotions, announced a voluntary
recall of "Youth Hooded Sweatshirts and Jackets".
The sweatshirts have a drawstring through the hood which can pose a strangulation
hazard to children. This recall involves children's sweatshirts and jackets
sold in sizes XS - XXL in colors: navy blue, black, brown, pink,red, white,
green, grey, blue, yellow, and orange.
The recalled garments contain the following embroidered logos: "Montauk,"
"Avalon," "Stone Harbor," "Cape May," "Sea Isle," "Ocean City," "Alaska,"
"Nantucket," "Maine," "Long Beach Island," "Lavallette," "Seaside Park,"
"Newport," "Monterey," "Carmel," "Skaneateles," "1000 Islands," "Block
Island" and "Seattle."
Consumers should immediately remove the drawstrings from the sweatshirts
to eliminate the hazard, or return the garment to the place of purchase
for a full refund.

Treestands Recalled by Gander Mountain Company
Due to Fall Hazard
12 November 2009 (Washington, D.C.) – The U.S.Consumer Product Safety
Commission, in cooperation with Gander Mountain, announced a voluntary
recall of the "2008 model GMT101 and 2008 model GMT103 Hang-On
Fixed Position Treestands".
The clasp may open unexpectedly if the strap is fastened incorrectly,
causing the treestand and user to fall to the ground.

Bicycles Recalled by Easton Sports; Stem Failure
Poses Fall Hazard
12 November 2009 (Washington, D.C.) – The U.S.Consumer Product Safety
Commission, in cooperation with Easton Sports, announced a voluntary recall
of "Bicycles with EA30 Stems".
The bicycle stem can crack and cause the rider to lose control, posing
a risk of serious injury if the rider falls.

Maclaren USA Recalls to Repair Strollers Following
Fingertip Amputations
09 November 2009 (Washington, D.C.) – The U.S.Consumer Product Safety
Commission, in cooperation with Maclaren USA, Inc., announced a voluntary
recall of "all Maclaren single and double umbrella strollers".
The word "Maclaren" is printed on the stroller.
The affected models included Volo, Triumph, Quest Sport, Quest Mod, Techno
XT, TechnoXLR, Twin Triumph, Twin Techno and Easy Traveller.
Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received 15 reports of children placing
their finger in the stroller's hinge mechanism, resulting in 12 reports
of fingertip amputations in the United States.
